Dental Veneers
If your teeth are chipped, cracked or discoloured, you may want to consider a dental veneer. A dental technician will tailor the veneer to perfectly match your teeth in colour and translucence, creating a cleaner, natural look. Implementation of a veneer typically takes two sessions. A dentist will first prepare the teeth and take an impression. A dental technician will then construct the veneer to perfectly fit the patient’s teeth. Upon the second visit, the veneer will be fitted.

White Fillings
For decayed or broken teeth, a composite filling may be required. Composite fillings are created from a mixture of tooth-coloured resin and high-quality glass. This mixture is then applied to the damaged tooth via enamel and dentin bonding techniques. White fillings act as a discreet alternative to amalgam (silver) fillings, which typically stand out and contain mercury, a hazardous chemical.
White fillings are especially popular with teeth damaged in sports injuries or as the result of an accident.
How Do Fillings Work?
First the dentist cleans the teeth, removing any existing plaque, tartar or previous fillings. After the teeth are clean and dry, the surface of the tooth is scored, then coated with a gel and bonding solution. This aids the bonding process.
Following preparation the white filling mixture is inserted into the cavity or damaged area and then moulded to match the size and shape of the tooth. The dentist then uses a curing light to solidify the mixture before trimming any excess filling. Finally, the dentist polishes the tooth to a natural shine.

Dental Crowns
If the visible part of the tooth has been damaged or broken apart, or decayed beyond the use of a filling, a dental crown may be required. Traditionally, dental crowns were uncomfortable and looked obnoxious, with black lines at the gum and a bulky feel. Fortunately, advances in modern dentistry mean that the crowns we use have a far more subtle appearance and feel completely natural in the mouth.
Each porcelain crown is hand-crafted by one of our expert dental technicians to the individual patient’s needs. The crown is built layer by layer to perfectly replicate the translucent appearance of a patient’s teeth.
Like a veneer, installation of a dental crown is typically performed over two appointments. The first, involving preparation of the tooth and the taking of impressions. A temporary crown will also be fitted in the interim period whilst the permanent crown is made. The second appointment involves the installation of the tailored crown. Patients usually feel little to no discomfort during the procedure though a local anaesthetic can be provided if necessary.
