DSD (Digital Smile Design)
DSD is an advanced way to help plan a patient’s new smile. By digitally creating the best teeth positions, we can then, using a digital in-mouth scan and CT scan merge the two together then proceed to computer plan the best position of the implants. Once that is established, we then have a unique drill guide printed that will only allow the implants to go in one position, depth and angle that relates to the DSD plan. We reverse plan so that the crowns/ bridge fits the implants not the other way around.
The DSD design team will create a 2D Project which simulates the patient’s ‘before’ and ‘after’ which we can show the patient. This can then be used to print a 3D model of the case and transfer the Planning directly into the patient’s mouth.
